Meet Philippa Hammond
Transforming your texts into world-ready copy you can be proud of
Find it hard to gauge whether your communications will resonate with English-speaking audiences?
Concerned that English versions of your texts will no longer sound like you?
Worried that copy-editing could remove all personality and energy from your carefully written documents?
If so, you need a linguist with the right cross-cultural knowledge, skills and flexibility to transform your words into actions.
That’s where I come in.
Since 2004, I’ve been helping purpose-driven organisations communicate complex ideas across cultures, while preserving their voice.
Because I love to work with people who are making the world a better place, I share your values and will treat your content as if it were my own.
Too often, clients tell me they have wasted good money on underwhelming English content. I won’t let that happen to you. When you hire me, you get my best work.
Shall we begin?
My approach
Content should engage, compel and galvanise. I don’t know about you, but lately I’ve found myself surrounded by bland content churned out by overworked creators, or worse – machines. I’ve encountered more and more language that falls flat, or which is so vague that it puts people off completely.
Sometimes it feels like we’re surrounded by bland content, now that machines are churning out so much of it.
Everything has begun to sound the same
But it can – it should! – be better.
That’s why I started my editing and translation business; to help writers like you cut through the noise. (That, and to live vicariously through you because I acknowledge that my own novel, written at the grand age of 7, will never become a global bestseller.)
You’re working hard to get readers to take a chance on your feature articles, donor-facing marketing materials, educational blog posts and press releases. I apply my strong research skills, methodical approach and clear writing style to my editing and translation work, to will ensure that your publications are read and acted upon by the right people.
Let me cut through the noise.
I like to listen! I will take the time to get to know your organisation and its values so I can do justice to your content and help make an impact.
I take a flexible approach to my services. Once we’ve established what you truly need, I’ll offer you customised options to suit you.
I understand that trusting your content to someone else can be daunting, and that you need a straightforward return on your investment.
My decades of studying, training and hard work to become the text tamer that I am today have prepared me for this moment. I won’t let you down. I’ll do the heavy lifting behind the scenes.
I now work with a huge range of wonderful clients doing great things.
I’ve worked on feature articles, donor-facing marketing materials, blog posts, press releases, websites and many more.
I adore what I do, but when I’m not helping my clients move mountains you’ll often find me at a yoga class (because my flexibility extends beyond the office), deep in a book, or plotting my next travel adventure.
It’s unusual to find someone who writes SO well!
