20+ years of helping clients make a global impact
Since 2004, I’ve been helping change-makers communicate complex ideas across cultures.
I’ve helped them communicate what they stand for.
I’ve helped them to inform, influence and persuade the people who need to hear their message.
Because I work with organisations that are making the world a better place, I share your values and treat your content as if it were my own.
Since I work within select specialist areas, I can ensure the terminology is right for your field.
I tailor my services to what you need: translation for one project, writing a summary (précis writing) or adaptation for another, or content writing from scratch.
Or even a combination of these!
What’s included in my translations to English?
Pitch-perfect writing in English that is free from robotic, clunky phrasing.
An English version that is adapted to English-speaking contexts without losing the impact of the original language document.
Careful research of terms and sector-specific concepts to ensure the translations are culturally appropriate.
Several rounds of drafts, tweaking and refining as I go.
Accessible language, following Plain English standards.
Confidentiality. I will keep your information confidential and secure, and access it using a password-protected private computer. I will not share your data or documents with any other person or service (including AI) without your express permission.
How it works
-
1. Consultation
We discuss what you need, and I ask you about your house style and the ‘brief’. That’s how I get to know your organisation, tone of voice and values.
-
2. Agreement
We establish a timescale that ensures important targets are met. Confidentiality and on-time delivery are a standard part of every project.
-
3. The work
Behind the scenes, I work methodically, using tracked changes and multiple drafts. I liase with you to clarify terms, concepts and phrasing when needed.
-
4. Delivery
What you get back: publication-ready copy, together with clear notes explaining stylistic decisions and any open questions.
“Philippa’s work is flawless. It is meticulously researched and reveals in-depth understanding of the source language, with very natural formulations in the target every time. The standard of her work does not waver, even when deadlines are tight.”
Questions?
-
As a general guideline, I aim to translate approximately 2,000 words per working day.

No; as a qualified translator in the UK, I translate only into my own native language, which is English.
Translating only into your mother tongue is a precondition of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting’s code of conduct. Someone who uses English as their mother tongue stays up-to-date with subtle changes in language use, and possesses the deep cultural knowledge needed to ensure nuance, context and connotations are all translated appropriately and sensitively.

Each job gets a customised quotation according to your needs. You may simply require a summary or, in a copy-editing project, some degree of rewriting.
The price for a translation of 1,000 words would start at around £100.

I most definitely can! Let’s discuss the purpose you want to achieve from the translation/writing/revision project, and I’ll advise you.
